During the peak season of aquaculture production, the feeding amount and cultivation density have increased. Meawhile, the incidence of fish liver problems occurs accordingly, which seriously affects the health of fish. Why fish liver prone to pathological changes?

1. Liver cell membranes are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are easily damaged by oxidation

Regardless of whether it is freshwater fish or marine fish, the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids on liver cell membranes exceeds 30%, while the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids on human liver cell membranes is only 7%. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are extremely unstable and are easily attacked by free radicals and oxidation damages, and causing various liver diseases.


2. The generation of free radicals in aquaculture is inevitable

Thus the fish liver is more susceptible from oxidative damage, which will cause various liver diseases.
